الملخص
نجح احمد القرمانلي (1686-1745)، بالوصول إلى سُدة الحكم في طرابلس الغرب عام 1711، ليؤسس نظام وراثي مستقل (1711-1835)، مع الحفاظ على التبعية الاسمية للدولة العثمانية، لكنه واجه عدد لا يحصى من الأزمات، سواء على الصعيد الداخلي أو الخارجي، في بلد مترامي الإطراف، يحظى فيه الزعماء المحليون بسلطات واسعة، لكنه نجح في إخماد الثورات الداخلية، ثم الاهتمام بالجانب الاقتصادي، بخاصة مع الموقع الذي حظيت به بلاده، من جراء ساحلها الطويل المطل على البحر المتوسط،، مما جعلها محطة للسفن، ومدخل إلى قلب القارة الإفريقية.
