Abstract

Drug addiction is one of the major causes of criminal activities among adolescents, and the relationship between drug abuse and crime during the period of substance use has various consequences. Many addicted individuals, especially adolescents, suffer from legal issues due to substance abuse, leading to social and psychological problems.

The age at which the individual undergoes treatment is crucial for shaping their life and future. Those who commit crimes often face legal troubles, missing out on opportunities for personal and professional development, learning, new experiences, building relationships, and achieving goals.

Since individuals using drugs often engage in criminal activities such as assault, murder, rape, or theft, the complexity of the problem is heightened by the misconception and false beliefs about drugs. Many individuals mistakenly believe that drugs provide comfort, pleasure, or offer a temporary solution to crises.

The current research aims to identify some terms, including addiction, crime, and adolescents. It also explores the mechanisms of dealing with addicted individuals, the procedures followed in treatment centers and detention centers, and the challenges faced by individuals when transitioning from their residences to treatment or detention centers. The research also addresses preventive measures for addiction-related issues, training programs, rehabilitation programs, and how to prepare individuals for post-detention phases and integrate them into society.

Furthermore, the current research explains the phenomenon of addiction and crime based on important scientific theories that explain the connection between addiction and crime.
