Abstract

Many academic studies have touched on the history of some Iraqi cities, yet some of them still need other studies, including the holy city of Kadhimiya, which has great importance, especially from a religious standpoint. The British occupation authorities gave great importance to the local conditions in the city, so it was necessary to present a picture of the local conditions that the city was experiencing during the British occupation period, which had clear importance in the history of Iraq.

The research was divided into four axes, the first of which dealt with a historical overview of the Kadhimiya district and gave a clear picture of the location, name, and classes of society. The second axis included the Kadhimiya district under the British occupation through a British description of the city, and the third axis included the service departments in the Kadhimiya district, which includes the police, the municipality, health and education institutions. The fourth axis dealt with the sections of the Kadhimiya district, which consists of (Al-Tarmiya, Abu Ghraib, Aqarquf, and Al-Mahmoudiyah).
