Abstract

The research dealt with the topic of the self in daily life, because this topic is of great importance, especially at the present time with the spread of development and technology and the use of social media, which have become an integral part of our daily lives, including social roles and interactions. The research also dealt with the theory of sociologist Erving Goffman (theory Dramatic theatre) with all its aspects in line with the subject of the study and how life is likened to theater and individuals to actors, in addition to the concept of impression management and the multiplicity of identities that each individual possesses. The topic of social interaction, its basic principles and its various types, including direct, indirect, focused and non-focused interaction, was also discussed, in addition to Criticism of Goffman's theory for not being compatible with major social phenomena from the point of view of some scholars.
