Abstract
The dramatic poem is one of the most important aspects of the modern Arabic poem, which tried to free itself from the constraints of the column and the ancient Arabic poetic traditions. The poet Youssef Al-Sayegh is one of the most important modern Iraqi poets who established modern poetic traditions that seek to rebel against the column and create a new aesthetic space that relies on dramatic and theatrical techniques. The dramatic poem dominated his poetic achievement, to be a witness to his structural awareness and stylistic intentionality. His dramatic styles varied and were distributed among several dramatic forms, perhaps the most prominent of which are the poem of the scene, the poem of paradox, and the poem of dialogue. He did not abandon the dramatic structure until the last breath of his poetry collections, so his last collection, Wake Up, Youssef, was a final example of Al-Sayegh’s great experience.
