Abstract
The concept of identity is a multifaceted notion that intersects with numerous fields within the humanities-anthropology, politics, sociology, psychology and others.
This interdisciplinary nature naturally gives rise to varying definitions and interpretation, each shaped by dithering intellectual perspectives.
From this standpoint, the present study seeks to explore the notion of identity and examine its representation in the poetry of prominent Iraqi Poet, Shaker Laiby. Under the title" The Identity formation in poems of shaker Laiby" this research endeavors to approach the essence of identity as reflected in his poetics works.
This significance of this study lies in its focus on identity as manifested in the cultural output of an influential Iraqi poets and academic-one whose contributions to the realms of art and knowledge are substantial, and who belongs to the distinguished generation of 1970s poets
