Marcuse's philosophy of history and civilization

Abstract
As is well known in every science, human thought has struggled to attain knowledge that is gradually expanding and renewing. This is what we find in this explanatory study on the nature of civilizations, their basic components, and the true foundations upon which they are based. It is also an objective descriptive study that reviews and demonstrates the civilizational, historical, and philosophical character that characterized Marcuse's writings. This interest by Marcuse is considered an important starting point for explaining the reasons that led to the oppression of modern man and his loss of freedom in his society, after Marxism failed to provide an explanation that transcends the status quo in contemporary industrial society. This led Marcuse to criticize the concept of civilization in advanced industrial societies
