Abstract

The current paper aims to show the level of exposure of Iraqi women to dubbed series and the impact of that on their awareness of what they watch. The phenomenon of producing and showing dubbed series has been met with public interest, especially among women. Therefore, it was necessary to address the nature of women’s relationship with these series, the pattern and intensity of viewing, and its intention and timing. The research was based on modern Iraqi, Arab, and foreign sources, articles on electronic websites, and conducting interviews in order to establish the theoretical basis for the research. The researcher relied on the survey method in addition to the questionnaire and interviews to collect data.


    The researchers designed the questionnaire form, and it was used as a research tool that included viewing questions and a scale. The research was applied to the Iraqi women’s community with a deliberate sample of 598 women who watch dubbed series. The research concluded that the research sample tends to follow this type of series to know the lifestyle of others. The Iraqi woman’s continuous exposure to social topics in dubbed series increases her understanding of social variables and consolidates and supports some positive values ​​in her, which enhances her harmony within society. The intensity with which Iraqi women watch the social topics that dubbed Turkish television series address contributes to shaping their awareness of them in the long term. There is a statistically significant correlation between the viewing pattern and the intensity of Iraqi women’s influence on romantic topics, clothing, decor, hairstyles, scenery, and nature.
