Abstract

The significance of the current paper lies in providing an in-depth analytical reading of how Iraqi newspapers address human rights issues through content analysis of media coverage and interpretation of its frames and implications. The researcher based on three Iraqi daily newspapers with diverse orientations—Tariq Al-Shaab, Al-Sabah, and Al-Zaman. These newspapers were subjected to analysis using descriptive research methods, aiming to produce practical and scientific results that meet the objectives and requirements of the study. The researcher developed a content analysis tool to examine the journalistic material published in the selected newspapers in order to understand how human rights issues were framed in Iraqi journalism, as well as to identify the journalistic forms through which these issues were presented. The study was guided by the central research question: What is the nature of media framing of human rights issues in Iraqi newspapers?
