Developments in Bahrain and its role in Gulf security 2011-2017

Abstract
This study aims to highlight the vital role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening and developing the security system in the Arabian Gulf region, in light of increasing regional and international challenges. The study reviews the political, military, and economic dimensions through which Bahrain has contributed to supporting regional stability, such as its hosting of the Combined Maritime Command (CMF), its hosting of a number of military bases, and its active participation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The study also examines Bahrain's role in security cooperation with major powers, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, and its contribution to international efforts to combat terrorism and arms smuggling. The study concludes that Bahrain, despite its limited size and capabilities, has succeeded in becoming a key partner in the regional security equation, making it an important player in shaping a secure and stable future for the Arabian Gulf
