The Intellectual School of Ahl al-Bayt (Peace Be Upon Them) and Its Role in Establishing Education to Confront Intellectual Deviations
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study discusses the role of education in the intellectual legacy of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as a comprehensive approach to shaping awareness and building both the individual and society. We emphasized that education in their thought was not merely a means of transmitting knowledge, but rather a tool for grounding sound belief, promoting critical thinking, and confronting intellectual deviations through diverse methods that combined rational and traditional sources.
We explored the intellectual foundations adopted by Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in education, showing how they balanced reason and revelation, linked education to ethics and behavior, and treated it as a collective responsibility essential to the rise of the ummah. Their educational strategies included indirect instruction through life experiences, dialogue and debate, and the use of literature and symbolism to deliver messages effectively and enduringly.
The study also underscored the pivotal role of education in addressing intellectual deviation by constructing a strong intellectual framework that protects society from misguidance and enhances the ability to distinguish between truth and falsehood. We demonstrated how their educational approaches contributed to shaping independent critical awareness capable of engaging with various intellectual challenges. The research concludes by highlighting the importance of drawing inspiration from this educational model in modern curricula and re-examining the thought of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as a civilizational paradigm that contributes to building a knowledge-based, aware, and intellectually autonomous society
