Abstract

Iraq has witnessed the emergence of many political, economic, and educational figures that played a major role in the development of Iraqi educational institutions, in addition to their contribution to the establishment and development of Arab educational institutions. Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Bassam is one of the educational and administrative figures who played a significant role in the development of both Iraqi and Arab educational institutions. He began working as a professor at the Higher Teachers' College in Baghdad in 1950, then worked as a professor at the College of Education at the University of Baghdad, then as a dean at the same college, and was promoted to several other positions mentioned in the research. He also contributed to much educational and psychological research and studies and played a role in opening the Center for Educational and Psychological Research and Studies in Baghdad. Due to his wide fame, the United Arab Emirates asked him in 1976 to establish the United Arab Emirates University, plan it, choose its curricula, and manage it. He was determined—may God have mercy on him—to establish the first university in the United Arab Emirates, assisted by a number of Iraqi professors.
