The Reliability of Digital Repositories in Academic Institutions: An Analytical Study of the University of Baghdad's Digital Repository
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study aims to achieve a set of objectives, most notably identifying the reliability characteristics of institutional digital repositories and determining the extent to which the University of Baghdad’s digital repository applies these characteristics in a way that qualifies it as a trustworthy digital repository. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and was based on seven main characteristics developed in collaboration between the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) and the Research Libraries Group (RLG) to assess the reliability of digital repositories. The research employed several statistical methods, including arithmetic means, standard deviation, and percentages. One of the key results of the study indicates that the University of Baghdad digital repository attained a high reliability level, recorded at 98%. It also recorded very high arithmetic means for the overall application of these characteristics, amounting to 2.88 with a standard deviation of 0.3023, indicating a high level of confidence in the repository and its ability to maintain continuity, stability, development, and competitiveness with other digital repositories at the local, Arab, and international levels. The study recommends that the administration of the University of Baghdad’s digital repository register it with international organizations that issue digital repository reliability certifications, such as IOS and CoreTrustSeal, in order to enhance the university’s reputation and increase its global visibility.
