The relation between academic commitment and vocational academic aspiration of university studants

Abstract

The current research aimed at measuring the academic commitment of university students identifying the level of vocational academic aspiration of university studants , the relation between academic commitment and vocational aspiration , the relation between academic commitment and academic aspirationThe differences in relation between academic commitment and vocational aspiration in accordance with gender ( male – females) , specialization (humamitics- scientific), and the differences in relationship between academic commitment and academic aspiration in accordance with gender variable(males – females), and speciatization (humanities –scientific). The current researd is determined by al- mustanseryah university of both genders (mals-females) and specialization (hunamities – scientific). The achievement of research aims requires developing academic commitment scale and academic vocational aspiration. The items of academic commitment scale have been collected from Kohlberg theory and previous studies. The ambition scale was developed from Levin theory and previous studies. The items of academic commitment scale was analized on a sample about (400) male and female students by using contrasted grop method. Face validity , construct validity were computed. Reliability by test –retest and by alph Kronbach were also computed. For ambition scale , the validity,reliability, and discriminating power of items were computed. The researcher applied the scale to(300) male and female students of both specializations. The results showed that university students have high academic commitment and high vocational academic aspiration, and there is apositine relation between academic commitment and both vocational and academic aspiration. There were difference in relation in favour of scientific specialization. There were no differences in relation in accordance of gender. In this light the recommendation and suggestions were set.
