The Morisco Issue in Contemporary Prose Literature: A Literary Reading of Selected Models

Abstract
This research aims to study how contemporary prose literature represents the Morisco issue through a literary reading of selected examples of narrative and novelistic works that dealt with this tragedy in various artistic styles. The focus will be on the way in which writers reconstructed the Morisco event, and the extent to which they employed it in contemporary perceptions related to issues of identity, civilizational conflict, displacement, resistance, and belonging.
