Abstract

The present study aims to highlight the role of the Iraqi family in promoting environmental culture as the primary social institution responsible for instilling environmental values and behaviors from early childhood. The study originates from the problem of weak environmental awareness within many Iraqi families and explores strategies that can contribute to fostering positive environmental behavior. The findings indicate that learning by example, daily eco-friendly practices, and non-traditional environmental education are effective tools in building sustainable environmental awareness. Moreover, engaging children in environmental activities enhances their sense of responsibility and integrates environmental culture into their daily lifestyle. The study recommends integrating the environmental dimension into school curricula, developing family-oriented awareness programs, and supporting governmental policies that encourage sustainability
