Abstract
The revolt of al-Harith ibn Surayj was a call to the Murji'ah and its principles, urging their propagation and implementation. This led to al-Harith gaining followers and forming a force against the Umayyad state. He managed to attract some leaders who were working within the Umayyad ranks. Despite the efforts exerted by the Umayyad rulers and the leaders they employed to suppress this revolt, the desired results were not achieved initially, and the flames of this revolt continued until the reign of Marwan ibn Muhammad
