Abstract

This research tackles the methods of teaching French language with the concentration on the literary text and its function to learn French language. The research seeks to show the role of the literary text in learning French as a foreign language due to the fact that many linguists , researchers and scholars regard such topic as very significant specially during the latest decade. The importance of the topic lies in the role of the literary text in the process of developing the linguistic skills of the students and enhancing the cultural education considering the fact that literary texts are rich with cultural references. 

The researcher believes that studying foreign literary texts has never been employed culturally and linguistically because the common pattern of analysis focuses on analyzing the text and its events without paying much attention to the cultural or linguistic heritage in the literary text. This is the reason behind writing this research which deals with the role of literary text in learning French language , developing the methods of knowing new words, writing sentences , enhancing the art of communication and literary reading. These aims were presented through a collection of  class activities and exercises.
