Machismo format in pre – Islamic Poetry: Research in Literary Criticism and Cultural Criticism

Abstract

This research presents an important concept in the Arab poetry through its ancient history and contemporary art. It deals with a term named "Machismo" . This term means a range of meanings which have been involved by many critics and their perceptions of Arab poetry. In other words, this term is confirmed in the sense of its higher poetic strength and estimated its presence throughout the Arab poets like Al- Asmaee, Al-Jumahi,and Al-Jahid, in ancient literary criticism. However, contemporary cultural criticism has changed the concept of the term i.e., "Machismo" especially by Al-Gathamee who confined the term in the inflated sense of "Ego". So according to that, we are trying to study this phenomenon, showing different opinions that represent literary criticism and cultural criticism
