Abstract

Coming search field study of the ancient city of Karbala through the questionnaire on a number of individuals to discover the reality of the city in the social and service aspects. The city consists of three areas namely: religious, commercial and residential, interact together to give the place a similar feature with known shrines cities. Also examined demographic changes that accompanied the city's history since its emergence, especially in recent times, where he became a huge population momentum and requires planning for the future processors. as well as the traditional style that has characterized the city , the modern buildings and neighborhoods affected western architecture took their space in diversity of place without underestimate the spiritual and sacred which enjoyed it as a symbol linking the man whith his space since ancient times.
