Abstract

The current study seeks to discuss the reviews presented by Modern Arab Linguists on the parts of speech in Arabic language. In this review I have questioned the extent of descriptive adequacy in those parts of speech, and their ability to represent meaning in the Arabic language. I have tested them, and highlighted their shortcomings and I offered the recommendations that could serve as a sensible alternative. The current study attempts at presenting the foundations on which the current review is based, and the researcher has set forth the most important critiques to the parts of speech in the Arabic language, with a demonstration of their relevance and their grounds. Then, the researcher gave his own critique for that criticism.
