Vision and Reality. A Reading in Jordanian Novelist Ahmad Al-Aerod's Novel Khulasaat Al-Nazf (What's Left!)

Abstract

Khulasaat Al-Nazf (What's Left!) is a novel rich in scenes of historic frustration clearly seen in the status quo (present situation). The way these scenes presented within the novel in the form of a poetic language implies the skill and awareness of the novelist to employ the linguistic features in an objective and neutral way in order to avoid directness and preaching. Although the diagnosis and treatment of such styles need an ideological background, the language used is free of any ideological thoughts. Through the critical examination of the novel structure, many legitimate questions have been raised as to : whether Khulasaat Al-Nazf is a means of expression or a call for change, and whether the text loaded by the artistic features is a creative work with exclusiveness in diagnosing reality, or a factual vision for the world lived in. These questions would be answered in the present paper.
