Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Cartoonists in Iraqi Newspapers

Abstract





The current study aims to identify the factors influencing job satisfaction among cartoonists working in Iraqi newspapers. The study sample consisted of cartoonists from various types of Iraqi newspapers (governmental, partisan, and private). A total of 100 individuals were selected to represent the study variables (gender, age, educational qualification, job position, and type of newspaper).


The results revealed a generally low level of job satisfaction among cartoonists in Iraqi newspapers. This dissatisfaction is largely attributed to the cartoonists’ perception that they are consistently viewed as less important than the journalists who write news reports.


The study also found statistically significant differences between holding leadership positions and all job satisfaction factors—except for two: available resources and relationships among colleagues. Furthermore, significant differences were observed among cartoonists across different types of newspapers (governmental, partisan, and private) in terms of the overall factors influencing job satisfaction.
