The Artistic and Aesthetic Dimension in the Press Photograph
Main Article Content
Abstract
The artistic and aesthetic press photograph, by virtue of its vitality and appeal, has become a turning point and a development in the structure of cognitive awareness. It harmonizes with contemporary visual and intellectual transformations, as it is the product of a technical and stylistic convergence between image and form, thereby adding both cognitive and aesthetic dimensions.
The press photograph has entered a visual space that reflects an artistic perspective of high aesthetic value. It unites sight and insight, shifting in concept from being a mere copy of something to laying the foundation for new cognitive mechanisms that transcend the idea of merely reflecting reality.
The core of this paper and its central problem lies in uncovering the structure of the press photograph with its artistic and aesthetic dimensions and the mechanisms of its operation apart from its traditional functional role.
The researcher has reached several conclusions, most notably the existence of a close relationship between photography and the plastic arts. The structure of the artistic and aesthetic press photograph relies on the elements and techniques of the plastic arts. Through its artistic performance, it has transcended the processes of flattening and copying reality by engaging with artistic depth in addressing issues, subjects, and events, while also serving as a means of expressing vision and stance. This is most evident in images that express contemporary human concerns, as well as in photographs of battles and wars.
